Increases in public transport costs in London could increase the number of cars on its roads

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Recent price hikes in London transport’s train and bus services are going to hurt commuters. With train prices set to rise around twelve per cent, many are going to feel the pinch. The current economic climate is not going to help either.

Redundancy announcements continue to fill many newspapers’ headlines at least once a week, which is making commuters start to look at their outlays and spend their money much more sensibly.

There are very few people that have not, in some way, been affected over the past twenty four months by the downturn experienced. More people than ever are now looking extremely carefully at the outgoings and making budget restrictions of their own to help them make it through to the other end.

For a number of the regular commuters in and around London, this could well mean the end of their train travel in favour of using their cars. These price rises move the emphasis away from the convenience of public transport in and around London to the adoption of financial prudence.

The potential increase in car travel however could well result in increased pressure on car parking. At 24 7 Parking we are now working harder than ever to ensure that hard pressed commuters can secure suitable, convenient car parking in London at competitive rates.

The decision to increase public transport prices around the capital may be disappointing but through organised car sharing initiatives, many could realise significant savings.

Discounted parking in London

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

When driving in London, one can look forward to many delays caused by the sheer volume of traffic. In addition, you will find numerous traffic jams, sets of traffic lights halting any good momentum you build up on a bit of clear road and of course, those infamous road works that seem to plague our roads all over the UK. London can often take these frustrations to new levels however, simply because of the number of vehicles on its roads.

This does not seem to stop people visiting London in their cars as literally millions travel to London every year. Couple this with all the commuters that do exactly the same and you can find yourself really struggling to find suitable car parking in London.

Nobody wants to pay over the odds for parking in London or anywhere else for that matter, but unless a space is pre-booked, you could well find yourself disappointed.

London is so much bigger and busier than other UK cities that it is inevitable that London parking can be a real problem. One cannot assume you will be able to find cheap parking in London near to your destination unless it is pre-booked.

Whilst there are a lot of spaces available, the most convenient London car parks are taken up by commuters who themselves (or their company) have purchased. A number of spaces at discounted prices are available through a specialist provider such as us at 24 7 Parking.

These services are not restricted to companies. The very same level of service is on offer to infrequent visitors.

Don’t forget about your car parking in London

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Not everyone decides to travel to our capital by car. There are probably more that travel to it by train, aeroplane and coach.

That’s fine until you get there and want to travel around. The times that you wish to travel may not fit in with the existing bus or underground times. Even if they do, you still need to find which bus or underground train you need to catch, where to change and even then you could still find yourself having to walk some way to get to your destination.

Car hire is most certainly an alternative once you arrive. There are many car hire companies that you will be able to call upon to provide you with the car and maps that you need to get around, enabling you to travel around at times to suit you.

If you are lucky, your hotel may even be able to offer you secure parking facilities. For those who are not so lucky, it is worth arranging your parking beforehand. It is difficult enough knowing the way to get to your destination without worrying about where you are going to park when you get there.

Help is available however through a network of companies that have been established to help.

At 24 7 Parking we have been providing such services to thousands of customers every year helping them source suitable car parking in London which is convenient, secure and best of all, usually at discounted rates.

Traveling and parking in London needs to be planned

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

When visiting London, it is worth planning your activities carefully. London, being the capital of the England and one of the major business centres around the world, is an extremely popular destination and must be considered vast.

It isn’t just a case of thinking you will visit the Tower of London in the morning and Madame Tussauds in the afternoon and take in a show in the evening.

Even with the super efficient underground and travel infrastructure around London, the distances involved in traveling between popular tourist destinations can be a lot further than you think.

If you have a car it may help, but don’t be too surprised to find difficulty in finding suitable secure car parking in London without paying way over the odds for car parking spaces.

It is as much about the time it takes to find suitable parking as it is about the time taken to get to your destinations due to the sheer volume of traffic on the roads. All can impact significantly on a person’s enjoyment of London.

Doing a little research beforehand, perhaps by visiting websites offering car parking in London or chatting with us at 24 7 parking for instance can go quite a way to mitigating some of that hassle.

We will be able to advise you of the nearest car parks to the attractions you want to visit, we may even be able to help and provide you with an estimate of how long it may take you to travel between the attractions.

Drivers advised to book car parking space in advance

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Many drivers may well be pleased to see the end of the bendy bus. The bendy bus in London were withdrawn from route 38 on 14th November 2009, and replaced by the more traditional double decker buses.

Double-decker buses will take over on the route between Victoria Station and Clapton Pond, with the route also changing on weekdays.

Every bus (except on evenings and weekends) will now run between Victoria and Hackney Central with alternate buses carrying on to Clapton Pond.

Public opinion has, for a long while, made it very clear that the bendy buses were not popular or wanted. Drivers using those routes have suffered somewhat, some of whom may well have given up using their own transport to get around the city because of them.

With the withdrawal in full flow and the rest of the bendy bus fleet due to be withdrawn by the end of 2011, those car drivers that decide to return to using their own transport will need to remember that car parking in London is still not a given.

To ensure you are able to have access to parking in London, the best course of action is to make use of the services of companies such as 24 7 Parking. We are able to source and provide suitable secure parking in many areas around London, often at significantly lower prices than those you would have to pay normally.
